My wife is a middle grades teacher and the copiers at her school are always broken are in use by someone else, so we do all her printing and copying at home – LOTS of printing and copying. I really like the speed and the automatic duplexing. We expect to cut our paper cost by 30-40%. We also create a pdf of each assignment/worksheet to upload to her website so students can get any missed assignments. The scanner – scan to file – option allows you to specify pdf file type and is very fast. The Automatic Document Feed is excellent with no jams so far even with large documents. We also print hall/bathroom passes on business card stock using the single sheet feeder with no jams. So far we have printed about 5,000 pages and have had no real problems. Setting up the network for sharing the printer was very easy. We expect to print about 5,000 pages per month – well under the 25,000 duty clcle. Our previous MFC 8220 is still being used by a colleague after 3 drum replacements – we just wanted the extra speed and auto duplex this machine provided.

Contrary to one of the erroneous reviews, the Brother 8085DN DOES support duplex scanning and copying. That is why you pay $50-75 more than the 8080DN, which only does duplex printing. We have the 8080DN and this series of Brother printers is FANTASTIC — an amazingly powerful business printer for the price of a personal printer. These things are well built, meant for a busy workgroup/small business setting. My wife runs a small nonprofit and has to print board packets and this thing just cranks them out. It will happily print two-sided packets and collate them — it will go hours of printing without a hiccup. Duplex printing is much slower than one sided printing — DUH, that is true of ANY printer. You’re not going to get high duplex speed until you get into the corporate printers. We have also owned the Canon ImageClass duplexing printer. The Canons are terrific, very trouble free personal printer. But there is a HUGE catch — their $65 toner cartridge will only go about 1,000 pages.

I bought this printer over better reviewed color laser multi-functions because of my good experience with the b&w Canon MF4270. my large format color HP died, so now I needed color and color MF’s had scaled in price and size. Setup was easy enough, although the menus were deep and complicated. just finding how to set up Distinctive Ring required a call to tech support and I never call tech support. But I felt better when the question stumped two techs. Then the problems began, the next morning the machine disconnected from the USB connection after entering ‘Sleep’ mode requiring a reboot of the printer. Then I spent two hours a day with Canon tech support, every day since receiving the printer and they couldn’t fix it. Next I was unable to set paper defaults, every print job involving the MF tray requires user input and I couldn’t print more than one page of anything (checks, letterhead, etc) because placing more than one sheet in the MF tray causes a ‘jam’ every single time. Canon clearly states this possible but in reality it does not work. Canon’s solution to turn off any default thereby requiring direct input from me to menu thru and tell the printer what kind of media I was inserting. Crazy, right? you must also ‘wake’ the printer to begin any task except receiving faxes. it’s also really noisy, a print job finishes and printer grinds on and on. I will say the color output was excellent. I returned it and now have a Brother MFC9320CW that does everything with zero input on my part and it’s wireless and a couple of bucks cheaper.

I purchased the KX-FLB881 from Amazon on 3/26/08. I guess I will grudgingly give this product 1 star. The network set up instantly with little thought, the fax works and the network scanning seems to function. However, every page that prints has a noticable mark running about every three inches, 1-1/2 inches in from the right side. I was hoping it would fade after a few prints but it will not go away. So I went to the Panasonic support website and left an email about the problem. They responded that they did not support this unit and that I should call a Panasonic support phone number. The automated reply at this number did not recognize this model and terminated the call. I went back to the website and they gave me another number for an overseas support site. I was told that they did not support this type of equipment. They gave me another number for support in New Jersey. They also did not support the printer and forwarded me twice whereupon I was disconnected. I called the number agin and was given an email address of a support supervisor. They never responded. Last week I called yet another number and to my surprise they said they did support the printer. They listed to my complaint and had me fax a copy of a printout to them. They said they would respond. They did not. I called again today and was told that the print drum is defective, has a scratch on it and the mark will not go away without replacement of the drum. And by the way, this is not covered by the warranty. He said he would connect me with a supervisor and I was again disconnected.

I purchased my Digital Copier and Laser Printer for use in my home office. It turned out to be even better than I expected for the price. This is not one of those flimsy built printers that you find connected to home computers. This is a serious piece of office equipment and built quite sturdy. The print quality is excellent; sharp and non-smearing. Most multi-purpose paper seems to work in this machine. I like all the functions and features and this is top-notch equipment and I have used and tried many brands and styles of equipment in my 45 year career working in business offices. I would recommend to anyone. One special note is the multi-purpose feeder tray is at the back of the printer and would not be easily accessible up against a wall.

Just purchased the Brother MFC 9460CDN all in one machine frpm Amazon and couldn’t be happier . it does everything we want it to do , but don’t expect duplex printing to be a time saver. you still have to turn the docs over so it it really is not a huge feature. Best of all the price was very low compared to all other sources we checked out. It was shipped promptly as promised and we had it in just a few days. For those who say it is a bit noisy, my answer would be ,Not Really, it is a printer!!!!!

You will stand around waiting for this machine each time you use it. This goes for copying, faxing and scanning. This is due to the ink sticks it uses and it has to “warm up” even to send a fax. The Xerox scanning soft ware is poorly designed as well. This is a waste of time and infuriating when you need to get things done quickly. Poor value overall, and after 2 years the machine jams on every page printed now. I am not even going to call out the repair guy. If I can get $50 selling this on ebay it will be good ridance for a dog of a performer. Buy a Fujitsu Scan Snap S510 if you want an excellent scanner.
